Buying Guide: New 40ft High Cube One-Trip Container

  • Long Lasting: Containers are fabricated with corten steel and include a 1-1/8″ marine-grade plywood floor. These floors are tough enough to handle a forklift walking around inside your container, storage heavy equipment, and can maintain a consistently high load. They’re perfect for storing commercial equipment or industrial materials.
  • Extra Space: Our 40 foot High Cube offers the largest maximum storage space out of all of our standard containers at 2,694 cubic feet. That’s right. • Added Height: You may be wondering, what makes a container a high cube? High Cube shipping containers stand at 9’6″ on the exterior and 8’10″ on the interior. That extra foot of height gives you more options when using a storage container. Maybe you need something tall enough for you to stand up in and work comfortably. Perhaps you want higher shelving to take advantage of vertical storage. Or you’re looking to insulate your container and finish the interior. Containers with this extra height give you that luxury.
  • Steel High Security Lock Box: Don’t fret about the security of your container. Each one comes with a steel high security lock box installed at the factory. These lock boxes protect your padlock from bolt cutters and adds another layer of security to your container other than the door.
  • Built-In Ventilation: Every 40ft High Cube container is equipped with ten built-in ventilation air vents. This allows for passive air flow throughout your container. Not only does this help with insulation, but it also helps reduce the container rain effect. Ready To Purchase Your New 40ft High Cube Shipping Container? Follow These Tips

Thinking about making the upgrade to a 40ft High Cube but not sure if they’re right for your next project? Here are some helpful things to know when looking to buy a 40ft High Cube.

Container Delivery Location: The truck that will deliver your container needs about 16″ of ground clearance to be able to make it up onto your property. Once on your property, our trucks need about a straight shot of 100+ feet to back up a trailer when dropping off a 40 foot container. Measure your desired delivery location ahead of time to ensure that we can make the delivery. Plotting out where your container will be placed before it arrives will help you avoid any obstacles.

Height Clearance: Our containers stand at 9’6″ tall. That’s one whole foot taller than our standard storage containers. Make sure there are no issues with power lines, tree branches, awnings, garage doors, or house edges before your container delivery.

Condition: New – One Trip containers from Steel Box Containers have only been traveled to the U.S. by cargo ship once. That means your container is practically brand new with almost no wear and tear. You can expect your One-Trip container to last the longest out of any container offered. They also come with a full manufacturer warranty. Some containers may have cosmetic damages from travel, but we do a thorough inspection to provide you with containers with as little damages as possible.

Price: One might question, why are One-Trip containers so much more expensive than used containers? They last significantly longer. Each container is priced up front and there are never any hidden fees or extra charges.

Shipping Container Permits: Your local city or county government often has regulations and permits required for storage containers. If you have any intent on converting your container into a living space, office, or accessory dwelling unit (ADU) it is always best to check with your city/county first.

Shipping Container Delivery Fees: Our delivery fees vary depending on the distance from our warehouse to the delivery location and whether you’d like your container set down on its side or upright. Since you do not need any special equipment to set a High Cube container down on your property we typically charge the same price to deliver them as we do our standard containers.

40ft High Cube Container FAQ

How much does a new 40ft High Cube container cost?
Container prices vary by location and distance from our facility. Give us a call or enter your zip code into our website to see current prices for your area. We provide delivery fees with no hidden charges — the price you see is the price you pay.

What is the definition of "One-Trip" container?
"One-Trip" containers were once used to describe containers that have made one journey from the manufacturer to the U.S. before arriving to our facility. One trip containers are essentially new containers. They come with a full manufacturer warranty and you will get the longest lifespan out of them. Some containers may have cosmetic damage from that one journey, but there will be no pre-existing damage or chemical exposure.

What is the difference between a standard 40ft container vs. a 40ft High Cube container?
The difference between a normal 40ft container versus a 40ft High Cube container is height. Standard containers come in at 8'6″ feet tall. They have about 7'10″ of interior height. A High Cube container comes in at 9'6″ feet tall with about 8'10″ of interior height. That extra foot can mean everything when trying to load taller equipment, finishing out the interior of your container, or requiring that extra room to work in.

How big is a 40ft High Cube Shipping Container?
Our 40ft High Cube Container's dimensions are as follows:
Externally: 40'0″ L x 8'0″ W x 9′ 6″ H
Internally: 39′ 5″ x 7′ 8″ x 8′ 10″
Door Opening: 7′ 8″ W x 8′ 5″ H
Cargo Capacity: 2,694 cubic feet.

What kind of floor does a 40ft High Cube have?
All of our shipping containers come with a 1-1/8″ thick marine-grade plywood floor. This floor can resist moisture, handle forklift traffic, and heavy equipment with ease. Many of our customers who purchase containers for home conversions love our flooring. It makes for the perfect subfloor to install finished flooring such as tile, hardwood, or laminate.

Does the container come with a lock box?
Yes. All of our brand-new containers come with a factory installed high-security lock box. The lock box is a steel reinforcement over the door latch that prevents bolt cutters from accessing your padlock and adding an extra layer of security to your container.

How do shipping containers ventilate?
Each container comes with ten built-in ventilation vents. These vents allow for passive airflow throughout the container. This helps reduce condensation from forming on the inside of your container. Also known as the "container rain effect". This typically happens when containers are exposed to large temperature changes, like here in Texas.

How much does an empty 40ft High Cube weigh?
An empty 40ft High Cube weighs in around 8,775 lbs (approximately 4.4 tons). With a maximum payload capacity of around 58,400 lbs.

How much space do I need for delivery?
You'll need about a 12 foot by 45 foot placement area for the container itself. Our trucks also need approximately 16 foot ground clearance and 100+ feet of driveway to back the trailer into your desired location. Container placement areas should be clear of any obstacles and leveled to support the container's weight.

Do I need height clearance for a High Cube?
Yes, you will need extra clearance for our High Cube containers. They sit about a foot taller than our standard containers at 9'6″. Always double check for power lines, trees, awnings, or garage doors prior to scheduling delivery.

Can I customize my High Cube container?
Of course! We offer windows, doors, ventilation upgrades, full electrical, blow-in insulation, cut-outs, interior shelving, and custom paint. Contact us to learn how you can customize your 40ft High Cube container!

How long will my One-Trip 40ft High Cube last?
With proper maintenance, your container can last 25–30+ years. Make sure to inspect your container yearly and treat any small rust builds immediately. This will help you gain the full lifespan out of your corten steel container.

Do you deliver 40ft High Cube containers in Texas?
