20ft High Cube Shipping Container

Sometimes you need more vertical storage space without expanding your container’s footprint. Our One-Trip 20ft High Cube shipping containers offer the durability and security of a standard 20ft container with one full foot of extra interior height. One-Trip containers have only ever made a single voyage from the manufacturer to our yard in the U.S., meaning they are essentially brand-new save for possible minor handling marks. Use a High Cube container to store tall equipment, construct an office workspace, or convert it into a comfortable living space. Its taller height allows you to do more than what a standard container will typically offer.

Trust only the best when it comes to your shipping container. Our One-Trip 20ft High Cube containers are constructed using commercial-grade corten steel and built to tolerate decades of harsh weather and outside elements. When you see One-Trip containers for sale, know that they made a single journey from the factory through a cargo ship to the U.S., meaning they will last you the longest amount of time and come with a full manufacturer’s warranty. Plus, they only have the slightest chance of cosmetic dings or scratches from that one journey. The added height on a High Cube container measures at 9’6″ — one foot taller than standard containers. This gives you more room to work with when storing oversized items, insulating your container, or converting it into your space.

20ft High Cube Shipping Container Dimensions & Specifications

Why Buy a One-Trip 20ft High Cube?

  • Durable: Each container is built with corten steel and reinforced with a 1-1/8′ marine-grade plywood floor. This floor is capable of holding up to forklift traffic, heavy equipment, and more.
  • Added Height: Standing at 9’6″ tall on the outside and 8’10′ on the inside, High Cube containers give you one extra foot of storage space. This is perfect if you’ll need room to stand inside while working, want higher ceilings for storage shelving, or need the extra space to insulate your container.
  • High-Security Lock Box: Included with every container is a steel high-security lock box installed at the factory. This protects your padlock from bolt cutters and ensures a tighter layer of security than the container door alone.
  • Built-In Ventilation: Each High Cube container has ten built-in ventilation air vents. This allows for passive airflow throughout the structure and reduces the container rain effect. Condensation can build up inside containers when not properly ventilated and cause damage to your equipment. These built-in vents help prevent that issue — something we like to account for in Texas climates.
  • Easy To Move: Want to move your container around once on-site? Standard containers require special rigging to move around. High Cube containers have dual two-way forklift pockets — allowing you to move it however you need with ease. We also install welded internal cargo tie-down rails so your items stay secure during transport.
  • Portable: Containers can be stacked two containers high at a time. And because they have such a small ground footprint, your site impact will be minimal.
  • Intermodal: Ships right from the cargo ship to your transport truck to a train and more. Container transporters are built to ISO standards.
  • Transport Law Compliant: Able to meet majority of permit requirements on public roads.

Popular Uses for 20ft High Cube Containers

Whether you need it for residential or commercial storage, a One Trip 20ft High Cube offers you 1,322 cubic feet of steel-built, weatherproof storage. That’s about 10% more cubic space than a standard 20ft container. The High Cube also features a 7’8″ x 8’5″ door opening, making it one of the most versatile sizes we offer. Here are just a few ways people commonly use new High Cube containers.

Storage Solutions

Need a storage container for residential, commercial, or industrial tools and equipment? Our containers offer ample storage space with extra vertical clearance. With its durable marine-grade plywood floor and steel built high-security lock box, everything you store will stay safe. Ideal for construction sites, farms, warehouses, ect.

Farm Storage

High Cube shipping containers are becoming increasingly popular amongst Texas farmers. Store livestock feed, farm equipment, and more with ease. The vertical height allows room for large equipment and double pallet storage. And with our two-way forklift pockets, containers can be moved around your farm with zero issues.

Office Space & Workspace

Storage containers make the perfect portable office for housing construction workers or employees on your job site. With a few modifications, you can build out the interior to suit your needs — including electrical, HVAC, insulation, windows, and more. Finished offices can be set up in minutes and remove with little to no site impact. The High Cube’s taller height makes it ideal for conversion into workspace. Its extra ceiling height creates a more comfortable environment for employees to spend their day.

Retail & Bars

Build a portable coffee shop, small retail store, or even bar out of a High Cube container. Not only does the taller height give your customers more comfortable room while inside, but it allows you more space to get creative with your layout. Add signs, custom paint, retail/storage equipment, and more.

Container Homes & Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs)

The square shape and size of the 20ft High Cube make it one of the most popular choices for starting a container home or ADU. Not only can you take advantage of the 7′ 8″ wide door opening, but the extra foot of height allows for proper insulation, ceiling fixtures, and more. The marine-grade plywood flooring also creates the perfect subfloor for installing such as tile, hardwood, or laminate flooring.

Art Studios & Creative Spaces

Turn that empty container into an art studio, music room, maker space, or creative office. Many brands also take advantage of containers to create built-in marketing at music festivals, sporting events, and more. Build out the interior of your High Cube container however you want and get creative.

Ready to Buy A 20ft High Cube Shipping Container? Here’s What You Should Know

Wondering if a 20ft High Cube container is right for your next project? Here are a few things to keep in mind when looking to purchase your next container.

Delivery Location: Trucks need approximately 16″ of ground clearance and 80′ of road/driveway clearance to back a trailer. Please measure your desired delivery location prior to placing an order for a container.

Height Clearance: We mentioned these containers are taller than standard containers. High Cubes sit at 9’6′ tall versus 8’6′ for standard containers. Double-check height clearance if you have overhead obstructions like power lines, tree branches, doorways, or garage doors.

New One Trip Condition: A One Trip container is exactly what it sounds like. These containers traveled on a single trip from the manufacturer to the port, and then to our facility. Because of this, you’ll get the maximum lifespan out of your container and they often come with a full manufacturer warranty. Some containers may have minor cosmetic damage from transportation, but no pre-existing damage or structural wear.

Price: As mentioned above, One Trip containers are more expensive than used containers. But you’re paying for many more years of service and longevity. Plus, our prices are always upfront. We will not try and charge you any hidden fees or extra add-ons.

Shipping Container Permits: Be sure to check with your city or county before buying your container. If you’re looking to convert your container into a livable space, office, or ADU, securing the proper permits is crucial.

Delivery Fees: Delivery charges are based on the distance from our facility to you’re delivery location, as well as how you’d like the container placed. Since High Cube containers don’t require any special equipment for placement, they typically cost the same to deliver as our standard containers.

20ft High Cube Container FAQ

How much does a new 20ft High Cube container cost?
Container prices vary by location and distance from our facility. Give us a call or enter your zip code into our website to see current prices for your area. We provide delivery fees with no hidden charges — the price you see is the price you pay.

What is the definition of "One-Trip" container?
"One-Trip" containers were once used to describe containers that have made one journey from the manufacturer to the U.S. before arriving to our facility. One trip containers are essentially new containers. They come with a full manufacturer warranty and you will get the longest lifespan out of them. Some containers may have cosmetic damage from that one journey, but there will be no pre-existing damage or chemical exposure.

What is the difference between a standard container vs. a High Cube container?
The difference between a normal 20ft container versus a 20ft High Cube container is height. Standard containers come in at 8'6′ feet tall. They have about 7'10 of interior height. A High Cube container comes in at 9'6′ feet tall with about 8'10′ of interior height. That extra foot can mean everything when trying to load taller equipment.

How big is a 20ft High Cube Shipping Container?
Our 20ft High Cube Container's dimensions are as follows:
Externally: 20'0′ L x 8'0′ W x 9′ 6′ H
Internally: 19′ 4″ x 7′ 8″ x 8′ 10″
Door Opening: 7′ 8″ W x 8′ 5″ H
Cargo Capacity: 1,322 cubic feet.

What kind of floor does a 20ft High Cube have?
All of our shipping containers come with a 1-1/8′ thick marine-grade plywood floor. This floor can resist moisture, handle forklift traffic, and heavy equipment with ease. Many of our customers who purchase containers for home conversions love our flooring. It makes for the perfect subfloor to install finished flooring such as tile, hardwood, or laminate.

Does the container come with a lock box?
Yes. All of our brand-new containers come with a factory installed high-security box. The lock box is a steel reinforcement over the door latch that prevents bolt cutters from accessing your padlock and adding an extra layer of security to your container.

How do shipping containers ventilate?
Each container comes with ten built-in ventilation. These vents allow for passive airflow throughout the container. This helps reduce condensation from forming on the inside of your container. Also known as the "container rain effect". This typically happens when containers are exposed to large temperature changes, like here in Texas.

How much does an empty 20ft High Cube weigh?
An empty 20ft High Cube weighs in around 5,200 lbs (2.6 tons). With a maximum payload capacity of around 62,000 lbs.

How much space do I need for delivery?
You'll need about a 12 foot by 40 foot placement area for the container itself. Our trucks also need approximately 16 foot ground clearance and 80 feet of driveway to back the trailer into your desired location. Container placement areas should be clear of any obstacles and leveled to support the containers weight.

Do I need height clearance for a High Cube?
Yes, you will need extra clearance for our High Cube containers. They sit about a foot taller than our standard containers. Always double check for power lines, trees, awnings, or garage doors prior to scheduling delivery.

Can I customize my High Cube container?
Of course! We offer windows, doors, ventilation upgrades, full electrical, insulation, cut-outs, interior shelving, and custom paint. Contact us to learn how you can customize your container!

How long will my One-Trip 20ft High Cube last?
With proper maintenance, your container can last 25–30+ years. Make sure to inspect your container yearly and treat any small rust builds immediately. This will help you gain the full lifespan out of your corten steel container.

Do you deliver 20ft High Cube containers in Texas?
Yes! We deliver containers all across Texas and surrounding states to both residential and commercial customers. Enter your zip code into our website to verify your area is served and view current pricing for your location.
