We ask our drivers to have about 12 feet by 35 feet of clearance, with around 16 feet of overhead space. Ensure it’s a flat, cleared space with room for the box to rest.

You should clear and level the ground where the container will rest. Also make sure there aren’t any wires, tree branches, or other obstacles in the way.

How long will a Conex box last?
25+ years if properly maintained. Conex boxes are made from Corten steel, which was designed to withstand decades of abuse from salt water. It’ll last you just about as long on dry land, too. Inspect your box yearly and paint over any small rust spots that might appear.

Will one fit on my property?
The least you’ll need for overhead clearance is a High Cube delivery. Make sure you allow for about 16 feet of space above where the box will sit. Each box is only about 8 feet wide though, so they typically fit in most properties width-wise.

How much height does a 20 foot Conex box have?
A standard 20ft Conex box is 8 ft 6 in tall. A High Cube 20 is 9 ft 6 in tall.

Do I need a special foundation to place a Conex box on?
No. You don’t need anything special for a Conex box to sit on. If you want to pour a concrete pad, that’ll work too. Just make sure that wherever you put it can support the weight of the box.

Can you get a 20 foot Conex box with windows included?
Yes — most windows can be installed at delivery.

Will Conex boxes leak?
Water isn’t likely to leak into your box. The seams on a Conex box are sealed to withstand huge amounts of water pressure without leaking. However, if a box does start rusting through and breaking down, that’s when leakage could occur.

How thick is the metal on a Conex Box?
The most common thicknesses are .344 and .438. This refers to thickness of the steel plate that makes up the Conex box.

How much weight can be placed inside a Conex box?
Inside a 20ft container you can place about 52,000 pounds of cargo before it reaches max capacity.

Will a Conex box fit in my driveway?
That depends on your driveway. You’ll need about 16 feet of head clearance, but the box only measures around 8 feet in width. That means they should be able to fit in most driveways if you’re concerned about width. Just beware of low hanging garage doors, hoops, etc.
